Cate Gillon is freelance documentary and portrait photographer because of her love of people and curiosity in humanity. She is based in Fife, Scotland is available for commissions. 

As a freelance Cate’s clients have included actor Brian Cox, Zero Waste Scotland, Northlight Heritage, Sterling, RBS, Virgin Money, HSBC, People's Postcode Lottery, OXFAM, Mercy Corps, Save the Children, Fife Gingerbread, BUPA, Everoze, Consolidated PR, Freshwater, TESS magazine, Wall Street Journal and The Scotsman Publications. 

Cate has worked as a staff photographer in Scotland for Glasgow’s The Herald and The Edinburgh Evening News. Based in London she was Getty Images’ only UK female staff photographer, seeing her work regularly appear in all the UK newspapers and many international publications including The New York Times, Hello Magazine, The Times, Life Magazine, The British Journal of Photography, The Guardian, El Pais and Le Figaro among others.

Her first solo exhibition ‘After the Tsunami’ was held in Edinburgh’s City Art Centre, beside the work of Steve McCurry in 2005. 

Cate’s love of pattern, colour and composition is informed by her Design training at both Duncan of Jordanstone & Glasgow School of Art.
